Anime segments featuring popular characters to condense history lessons for children This year's 40th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is revealing on Monday that Fuji TV networks will air a "FNS 27-Jikan TV Nihon no Rekishi" (FNS 27-Hour Japan's History) special on September 9 and 10, which will feature anime segments from One Piece, Dragon Ball Super, Kochikame, and Chibi Maruko-chan. Police: suspects scanned manga, earned money from website ads Japanese police arrested three people on Wednesday for allegedly violating the Copyright Act by uploading Eiichiro Oda's One Piece manga from Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine online, before the manga's chapters were scheduled to be published. The police arrested Yō Uehara, a 30-year-old self-employed male from Chatan, Okinawa Prefecture, and Shizuka Nagaya, a 23-year-old freelance female writer from Tottori, Tottori Prefecture. The police also arrested Ryōji Hottai, a 31-year-old web designer from Akita, Akita Prefecture. According to police, Uehara and Nagaya had been acquiring copies of Weekly Shonen Jump from stores that sell copies early, and using a scanner to copy chapters of the manga and upload them online. Holographic screening to tell Marineford arc story with new characters, original story part This year's 43rd issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed on Monday that the previously announced One Piece "holographic" stage event has been delayed to an early 2018 premiere at the DMM VR Theater in Yokohama. The work will be titled "One Piece Dramatic Stage THE METAL ~Tsuioku no Marineford~" (Recollection of Marineford). The work will feature an original story and new characters. The production was originally revealed in late 2016 with a planned debut in 2017. To celebrate the project, the theater screened the "Mugiwara no Ichimi vs Kaigun vs Ōka Shichi Bukai Holographic Battle Theater Encore in Yokohama" (Straw Hats vs. Navy vs Seven Warlords of the Sea Holographic Battle Theater Encore in Yokohama) hologram screening from November-December 2016. The work was an enhanced update of a 2014 "hologram" screening that ran in another theater in Tokyo's Odaiba area.

This year's 44th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine announced on Monday that Bandai Namco Entertainment's previously announced One Piece Grand Cruise VR game for the PlayStation VR will launch in Japan in 2018. In the VR project, players will join the Straw Hat crew as a pirate-in-training on a certain voyage on the Thousand Sunny. Players will be able to interact with the members of the Straw Hat crew and will fight against the Marines. The game has a demo experience that started in July inside the Tokyo One Piece Tower theme park. The demo is ongoing and features eight-person co-op play.
